Our Mission
The Uhuru Arts Foundation is a cultural force dedicated to unlocking the transformative power of the arts—not just for the stage, but for life.

We believe art is the ultimate act of freedom – Uhuru. By creating original theatre, film, music, dance, and poetry, we ignite audiences and students to reclaim their creative agency, rewrite limiting narratives, and live boldly – on and off the stage, page, or screen.

01
How We Do It
The Practice: Our signature ritual of living art trains artists, educators, and professionals across many disciplines to apply the art of performance as a tool for liberating creativity. With practical application, we are turning everyday lives into works of art.
02
The Uhuru Institute
The Uhuru Institute (TUI): Our radical "un-schools" use arts education to cultivate the whole human being, fostering creativity as a birthright. Our ultimate goal is to have a TUI operating in every community that needs arts education.

03
Cultural Disruption
We produce works that challenge, inspire, and dismantle barriers—because culture leads, and socio-politico-economic follow.
04
Why It Matters
Art isn’t a luxury; it’s oxygen for the soul. When we liberate creativity, we unlock:

Personal Uhuru: Confidence, purpose, and self-expression.

Collective Uhuru: Communities that thrive on justice, joy, and shared stories of resilience.

Simply put: We equip people to live freedom —through art, education, and the audacity to create.
